Default XP Read errors; Cannot even load Safe Mode

Woke up this AM to a dead Compaq Presario SR1130nx.
Initally I could boot into safe mode - I ran AVG which noted read errors in the MBR, Boot Sector, and Partition Table. Unfortunately, I cannot even get into Safe Mode anymore.

I can get into setup - Hard-Disk is recognized - no problems noted.
I can boot from the slave Hard-disk - a 98se disk; but it cannot recognize FAT32 drives, so the first partition in the primary drive isn't recognized.

I cannot boot from my CD-Rom.. don't know why. I just keep hanging up on the screen with the small moving blue rectangles.

I do have another XP computer at home - DUH.. on it now... is there a repair program I could use to repair the read errors on my primary drive? I cannot run the new Scandisk - because it requires a reboot - ain't happening.

Thanks in advance...

Got a floppy drive??
antique tech-- I know-- but when I had an issue like this I used a set of floppies to load XP setup from them. free download.

Default Thanx, but no floppy drive!

Of course, I moved to flash drives ! I knew it would come back to bite me! I probably have some drives lying around - Thanx for the suggestion.

OK-- how about this...

I could not begin to tell you how to run some of these tools-- but something in here should be able to fix this. It'll take some reading though.
