Default replacing mobo

hi all, im hoping you can help resolve a problem dealing with my soon-to-be motherboard replacement

im fine as far as hardware goes, but im a little confused about the whole hard drive/operating system deal.

i purchased a winxp home edition upgrade pack a while ago to upgrade my pc from win ME. After reading through the instruction booklet, i noticed there is an option for installin xp called "new installation".

Im wondering if i could reformat my hard drive, which will leave it with no operating system, plug it into my new mobo, and use the "new installation" option to fully install xp once again onto the same hard drive.

Hya CtrlAltDel , welcome to PCHF.

That shouldn't be a problem. Just boot up from the XP upgrade cd , during installation it will ask you to place the ME cd in youre drive for a couple of seconds to proove that you actually have it , and then continue normally with the installation process.
