Thumbs down MCAFEE !!My McAfee madness!!!

Hey Y'all!

UGH! what a horror story you are about to read!:o

Well here I am moving into year two of the use of my new PC.
those of you that are familiar with me know I was having some trouble with some DVD burning & pictures/image attachment issues.

Well! basically I was able to post a picture to a forum but I would be unable to see it everyone else could!

UGH!

I soon realized it was not the forum.

So after messing with my ISP for a while & downloading Mozilla fire fox everyone is saying I'm having a "browser issue"

Now I have 3 years parts & labor & on top of this lifetime 24 tech support with remote access .
Also "restore it" software

after having to back up my data & tons of pictures onto DVD {which was one of my problems not being Abel to Burn}
I had to do the unspeakable yes use the restore it!

We went back 2 months took close to 5 hours!
still broken well after one more time {& my buddy at the puter place is wishing I would really just go away}

LOL

A more unspeakable horror
Yes the dreaded "STATIC RESTORE POINT"!!
I'm sure its a lot better than a total system crash,because that is what lead up to this PC.

After the static point Istart reinstalling all my peripherals & after the McAffe My ISP & the printer I go & check to see if I can see MY Pix . . .

NO!!!!!
So I get them to learn me how to change the start to every time start up & attack the problem .

Back to static !

1 st McAffe
check , no PIX!
BINGO !

So now here is a kick in the **** if you want to have a voice talk to you from mcaffe bend over @ the rate of $2.95 a minuet!

So I figure I got junk .so what do I have to loose?
I dive into the program & find a
PRIVACY SERVICE & under the "Block ads" tab There is a Ad blocker turned on

turn it off instant success the pix work again!

This I'm not kidding has set me back so far @ least about 60 hours never mind the future time of putting my PC back together.

So ALL in ALL I hope this saves someone many hours of brain beating somewhere in the future.

Obviously there has been a lot of cursing & swearing that has been omitted from my tale of saddnes.

Great info SR, although kinda long, even for you LOL . I think you would be much happier with some different AV software. Please read PCHF Protecting Your PC from my signature. I think you will find all of the Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, and Firewall programs that you need, FREE!!!

Look forward as always to your reply,

I had McAfee once-- for about 3 months... when I first bought a PC... I grew so unhappy with their fees/perfomance that I switched pretty quickly. Personally I recommend AVG --though their freeware version requires "manual" updates-- I have used it for a long time. I have the Pro version for my own PC-- friends have the free 1 --with no problems. I have Panda Platinum on the "kids" computer downstairs -- which has also been excellent and comes with a firewall/antispyware/many 'extras'

I couldn't agree more Ih8bills. I got the Mcaffee suite with my new Dell, and the first thing I did was delete it, and go with Avast. Another great freeware program. I have been using Nortons for years, but they have just become too bloated, and system invasive, not to mention pretty expensive.
We'll be looking forward to your reply,
