Default factory settings

Hi all again,
I have a friends comp looking at for her.

The comp is in such a state I would like to take it back to factory settings.

But when i go to the Packard Bell Smart Restore all come up ok, but where I should click on two folders which will give me a complete recovery these r not there as well as the icon for creating back up discs.

I have also tried tapping/holding the F11 key to get to resetting that way,but there is no response, the comp continues on to normal star up.
I even changed keyboards in case the keys where faulty on the original.

The only icon showing is a floppy disc one.

So I cant return it to factory settings by the Smart Restore.
I have taken the comp back as far as I can go with System Restore, that made no difference.
The only thing added to the comp is another CD Rom drive.

I think a few people have had a GO at this prior to me,so who knows whats been done.

My own comp is exactly the same so it is easy for me to compare comps.

Has anyone got any clues on how I could get this unit back to as was?
I have no discs or anything like that for this comp.

Comp Specs:

Packerd Bell 3.0GHz
512 ram memory
Pent 4
80 Gb HD

Need more info just yell .

Thankyou Andy

Hi ya Andy, the best advice i can give you, is to phone Packard Bell support, they should be able to walk you through recovering the PC as i think it may need a re tattoo.

Default Thanks

Hi Madgamer,
ok thanks for that info, I have tried looking for any "backdoor" to enable me to get it back to factory settings, only got myself into a bit of trouble that way(fixed that up though).

Beats me on how all that recovery stuff could be erased.

I was going to buy this comp of the person, but her asking price was a couple hundred less than a new unit so bought the new one instead.(Thankfully)

Apparantly from the info I can gather the owners daughter has a bad habit of just clicking and deleteing things,so maybe she was responsible for this issue.

Thanks again Gamer.

Regards Andy
