Default Computer just being strange.

Hey guys. My computer has been acting strange recently.
Mostly to do with the internet. Im going to run a Virus, spyware scan etc. Registry Clean and things. The problem is the connection to the internet. Its hard to explain. I can't sign in on MSN, when i troubleshoot it detects a problem. then cant fix it. But ive managed to sign in now.
On Firefox, it is unable to find the homepage (Mozilla Firefox StartPage google thing) Then i typed in the URL for this site, and got onto it. Other sites i can't. A friend said it could be to do with Proxy settings? these are....?
Ive attached a HJT log, as you guys often ask for one.
Thanks for any help
Cheers
Matt

Hi there,

A proxy is nothing more than a server that sits between a computer and other network resources to include the internet. They can be used to restrict access to various internet sites. It is an indirect way to get to the internet. I am guessing that you are using your computer at home, right? If that is the case then you most likely should not be using a proxy. As far as the log, someone from the security side is going to have to look at that. What kind of connection to the internet do you have?

Hya EmattE , a couple of unwanted programs there.

First go to add/remove programs and uninstall seekmo and SpywareRemover there if present.

Then the next , that one is alittle more tricky:

1. Go to Add/Remove programs. Double click on "Messenger Plus!" (or click on Remove) (see quote below!)

2. The "Messenger Plus! - Setup" is now displayed. Click on the Uninstall button. Note: options displayed on the first screen are not related to the sponsor program.

3. The sponsor screen is now displayed (if you don't see it, search for it in your Task Bar). To prove that someone is currently reading the screen, you have to type the code that is displayed. Once you enter the code, press Uninstall.

4. If you entered the code properly, the program will ask you to confirm that you want to uninstall. You must answer "Yes" to this question, else, you won't have another chance of uninstalling.

5. To complete the uninstallation, follow the instructions that are displayed (the first one is to close all your Internet Explorer windows, that's very important). When everything is complete, restart your computer and, hopefully one nasty infection is gone.

When removing Lop.com from the Add/Remove screen it may not show up as Messenger Plus instead also look for these and remove them:

Window Search
Window Searching
Lop.com
LOP SEARCH
Browser Enhancer
Ultimate Browser Enhancer
L.O P. Un insta11
L O.P. Un instal1
Live 0n line Portal
Live.0nli ne Porta1
Window Active

Finally there is a step in the removal process of Messneger Plus where the sponsor asks if you want to uninstall that aswell, You have to click YES to this part of the removal process

If you dont do this corretly then you will have no other choice but to reinstall Messenger Plus and then go through the whole removal process again from the start.

Then after that boot in safemode (hit f8 when booting up) and fix these with hjt if still present:

O2 - BHO: Seekmo Search Assistant Helper /fleok=1D8A83A5C5E1157A9BA875760EA83FA5EF80752B94E3 D879557C442D3EC3 - {5929CD6E-2062-44a4-B2C5-2C7E78FBAB38} - c:\program files\seekmo\seekmohook.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SpywareRemover] D:\Program Files\SpywareRemover\SpywareRemover.exe -boot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zzzHPSETUP] F:\Setup.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [seekmo] "c:\program files\seekmo\seekmo.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [saveglue] C:\DOCUME~1\Matt\APPLIC~1\BYTESE~1\Idle Shim Extra.exe
After that is done , delete the folders marked in bold , reboot to normal mode and post a new hjt log please.
