Default CD Drive Problem

Hello all,
This happened out of nowhere one day, but now whenever I turn on my computer, a black screen comes up saying that it cannot find my CD drive, then tells me to press enter to continue or ESC to continue and not show the message again. Of course the message is true, my CD drive does not work (doesn't get detected and doesn't open).
If anyone needs to know my specs to solve this problem then tell me.
Other than that, thanks in advance!

Hi Archee!
Welcome to PC Helpforum!

Have you got a clue whether this black screen comes from Windows or from your mainboard?
Could you enter the BIOS (tapping F2, Del or sometimes F1 or F10) during the start-up, to check the boot sequence? You might also be able to disable your CD-ROM drive there.

Post back if you need any more help.

I'm pretty sure it comes from the mainboard and not Windows. I'm not at my house right now so I won't be able to see if I can do stuff in the BIOS menu. But I'll post back later with more info if I find something out.
