Windows XP/2000 - Memory Problem posted in the Operating Systems forums; Hi ive just bought some pc133 256 sd ram 32M x 64 DIMM memory and im using another 128mb card the problem is it only shows 266,846,208 bytes (255 MB) ...

Exclamation Memory Problem

Hi ive just bought some pc133 256 sd ram 32M x 64 DIMM memory and im using another 128mb card the problem is it only shows 266,846,208 bytes (255 MB) altogether andbody have any ideas im not using a on board graphics card or anything you can view the card here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1
and my memory specs are below thanks people.

Howdy Rob2k6,
Is the knew stick you bought 128 meg as well? If so Then dont be alarmed if your missing 1 mb.

This is just memory allocated to windows and maybe and onboard sound cache etc..

Edit should have looked at the link.. So now it seems it is not recognizing the old 128 stick. Have you tried moving the sticks around?

Put the 256 sticks in the first slot and 128 stick in the second

Yes ive changed them round when i put it in on its own it makes out its 130 mb its well weird i know the card is 256 mb cause it says it on a chip

Can you go into your BIOS just to see if you have an entry for (dang I forgot the word lol) agerparture (sp?) size is set to 0.

Also go into your device manager and see if you do have onboard graphics if you do right click and disable it (not uninstall) just click the + by diplay

Since it only reads 130 on its own which you said is wierd.

I have not got a agerparture in BIOS and dont have onboard graphics mate.

What operating system are you using? XP or 2000?
