Hi there Stan, if you go back into user accounts in Control Panel, you'll see pick a task there are various options to choose from. Click on "Change the way users log on and off" and make sure that "use the welcome screen" has a tick in the box and "Use fast user switching" has a tick in the box and press apply options.

Default problem still exists

hi all i followed the advice given to me ie click on change ways users log on and made sure both boxes were checked, but the problem is still there. maybe i confused you. i do not want the admin account to appear when my pc boots up, i just want to click on my name, me being the only person using the pc.
regards Stan

Have you deleted all other users accounts?

You can go to start...run and type in msconfig(go to windows) and make sure faste user switching is on.

If you have no accounts accept the admin then just make the tick in show log on screen is ticked.

I think Asa means (services tap) instead of (windows) , or you could also go to start/run/services.msc to look for it.
