Default ReadWriteProcessMemory error

Hi, I just did a clean install of WinXP pro. When I try to install the chipsetdrivers or VGA-drivers I get this error:

"Only part of a Read/WriteProcessMemory request was completed"

What can I do to fix this? Is the installation corrupt, are the files on the CD corrupt, is it a hardware problem or something else?

*edit*

Sometimes I get this error: "Cannot find procedure entrypoint in DLL-file KERNEL32.dll"

THanks in advance

Hi Zephar,

I haven't had the pleasure, so allow me to extend my welcome to PCHF.

Looking at your other thread, it seems that you were having grapic card problems prior to your reinstall. Did you have the opportunity to test the card in another PC as Joe suggested?

The problem may very well be with the vid card itself.

Do you get error messages when you try to install anything else?

When you did your install, did you completely wipe, and repartition, and reformat your harddrive before installing XP?

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

The problem with the VGA card is fixed, the problem was with the PCI-X slot itself. Forgot to tell it was OK. It can be closed.

I didn't fully repartition. There were originaly 2 partitions, a 20gig and a 120gig. I shrunk the 120gig to 90gig and deleted the other. Then I made 3 new partitions, 1 for WinXP and 2 (swap and root) for Linux. All the partitions are fully formatted. I haven't tried to install other stuff yet. I was
so looking for a solution to this problem.

Hey Zephar,

I think your problem may actually be that you didn't completely wipe and repartition your harddrive. The manipulation you did may have inadvertantly caused bad sectors in the original partion, (it may be looking for something that is no longer there.

If I were you, to rule that out as a possibility, I would go back, completely delete all partitions, and then set up the partitions the way you want them to be. Then reinstall your operating systems.

Thanks for the information about the vid card, I will mark that thread as Fixed.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

It's not working, I deleted all partitions and made new ones. I'm still gettting the same error .

Or maybe I could just format to 1 partition so I would be sure the full HD is formatted.

Howdy zephar,
Are you intalling the drivers VIA Linux or WIndows?

if you need the kernal.dll file you can download it from here and it will extract it to where it needs to be

Still not finding a solution.

@asa_sniper: I tried placing the new kernel but then it doesn't even boot anymore. The problem is with windows, Linux isn't installed yet.
