Default my pc died HELP

gosh i hope some one can help,
i do a lot of selling for my retail shop on ebay so the pc is a very much a needed tool.

recently my pc stopped working(ohno) luckliy i have an old 2nd user pc but it is very slow(not what you need when you got a lot of orders to complete) i am no pc genius i know a liitle to get buy but not enough.

my pc died and then came up with the folowing error when i tryed to rebbot
(this application has failed to start because odbc.dll was not found re installing the application may fix the problem)

i pressed ok that then took me to the following message

(the logon user interface dll.msgina.dll failed to load contact your system administrator to replace or restore the orginal dll.)

i rebooted the pc with the drivers and xp disk and recovered the system(all files still in tact thank goodness i cant afford to loss the files that are storeed to my pc)

but then when i shut down again and rebboted the next moring i had the same error messages as above again
so i tryed to recover the sytem again!!

this time it would not work and i just keep getting the error messages as above.
please could some one help me to get my pc back to normal with out losing my files

thanks for any help out there a very frustrated pc user

Hi Cal welcome to PCHF, if you have your Windows XP CD handy, may i suggest a repair install. (Your documents, personal settings and other data wont be affected during this process), to do this may i direct you to this site.

http://www.windowsxphome.windowsrein...pair/index.htm

If this still fails to resove your problem, pop your XP CD in and go to

Start
Run
and in the open box, type "sfc /scannow" (without quotes) and press enter.

Windows will go through and replace any missing or damaged system files.

Hi Calal,

Welcome to PCHF first of all.

I'm, I guess you could say a "Mod in testing", I'm not a tech or anything so I dont know much about this stuff. I'm sure that, if MadGamer's suggestion dosnt work, someone will be with you soon.

Also a suggestion of my own would be to backup your files (that in itself being a good idea) and format your computer using the partions and stuff that is available at the link I inserted below which seperates your OS from your programs and files, in the case of needing to reformat you would be able to just wipe the OS and your files would be fine. (or vice versa)

Hope it works out,

Hi Calal,

Welcome to the forums!

If MadGamer's tip doesn't solve your problem, can you post back and let us know before you do a format? Although a format will probably solve your problem, i'd like to think of that as a last resort.
