You can download the hotfix from MS website

http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/R...eleaseID=39318

Or another way as per MS..

1.Log on to the computer by using an account with administrator permissions.2.Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot%\inf, and then click OK.3.Locate the Srchasst.inf file.4.Right-click the Srchasst.inf file, and then click Install. This reinstalls the files that Search Companion uses.NOTE: You may need your Windows XP CD-ROM to finish installing Search Companion. This issue may occur again if you have Search Companion open when you connect to your ISP.

You can get the fix from this page:

The link that Asa posted was correct and from MS's site , but it doesn't work anymore it seems.

See here:

i dowloaded it, but it gave me this error message :
"Q319949 Setup Error
Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of the system installed is newer than the update you are applying to it.

You can only install this update on a computer with no Service Packs installed."
I think this is for SP1 only. I have got WIN XP SP2. I need one for that version. Cheers.

Have you tried this way yet? Since you have SP2 already might want to go this route

That means that youre pc already has the update installed and you dont need it anymore. (well , you shouldn't anyway.. it probebly means that youre problem is caused by something different)

But you could always use the manuall way with the Srchasst.inf file that Asa posted , works just as well.
