Default Modem

Hi Mischf,

Welcome to The PCHF,
Could you let us know what the make/model of modem it is.
A couple of things you can try,
Test the cable from the wall socket to the PC by plugging a normal phone into it. If there's no dial tone on the phone you'll need to replace the cable.
Make sure that the modem cable is not plugged into the wrong socket on the modem ( if it has two) one is for you to plug a line from the modem to a phone, the other one is for the line from the wall socket to the modem.
Let us know how these go and see if we need to try something else.

Thanks Radar...I tested the phone line..that's okay, I'll go and check the cables..again, this computer was used for home networking so would the modem be hooked up to something else to make all that work? Thanks..

Hey mistchf!

Have you set up a dial up connection?
Or is it still set to connect to internet through your LAN?

Blue

Default Not the first

Ok then Mate, You are certainly not the first and probably won't be the last. All the best. I'll mark this one as fixed.
