Default [Answered] Realtek ethernet vs modem??

Have a THIRD computer now, has a realtek ethernet in it. Can this be configured to use as a modem? Do I have to get a seperate modem and the ethernet is just for use with dsl/cable? I can only get dial up where I live so do I need to replace the ethernet card with a modem? Between the 3 of these I'll get a computer working eventually!!! Just for info, this is a home built computer, not by me but by the time I get one of these working I'll probably be able to!!!

Hya Mistchf.

I dont think there is any way you can use an ethernet card as an modem.
But an modem shouldn't cost more then $5/10 or someting like that.

thanks Joe..that's what I thought but from reading it sounded like some could be used as modems, I misunderstood. So if I took the Livewire modem out of the compaq and put it into this one do I leave the ethernet card in? Maybe I can take pieces and parts from all three to get at least one working!!!??

Yes, you will have no problem running the modem and ethernet card in the same PC.
