I ran the Windows Update, and it doesn't say any updates for Windows Defender. It did at one time, but everytime I downloaded it, nothing happened. It would just say Downloaded;Ready to Install. That update isnt there anymore though.

It just might be because of that it's beta. But my dad says his works fine. I just went on my dads computer. I couldn't find windows defender, but it's there somewhere. I found a thing called "Program Update". Does that really update your programs you have installed on PC? If so, how do I get it on my PC?

Aside from Windows Defender problem, for right now, can we focus on removing everything from harddrive and letting me from fresh? How do I do that without XP CD?

IOWNAPC,

If you are very sure that you are no longer willing to attempt the fixes, you can probably restore your OS. It depends on how it was installed in the first place.

You must post your Make, Model #, and the year that it was purchased in order for us to be able to help you further. We will remain in this thread for the duration. Do not begin any other threads.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

The owner's manual comes to mind, you can also usually find the information on the PC itself, perhaps your father could help you look for the sticker, it may be on the back of the PC.
