Hi Y'all

I've been having a problem with my camera prompt

I recently downloaded NERO 6 & it took over & won't let the "windows picture & fax viewer prompt window come up ,
So when I need to download my pictures I have to go in the back door .

I have gotten the Nero disabled now .

I have been very unable to get the prompt back ,

So my next plan of attack is to un- install my camera software & re install it hoping
windows will pick it up as a new device .


My "Q" is will I loose my pictures I have in "my pictures " folders??

So that's the map My Pictures in My Documents?
Reinstalling camera software won't do any thing to the files in your document maps!

Welcome back, I don't think that reinstalling the program will affect the pictures, as long as they are in the My Pictures folder and not in a folder created by the program.

There is a way that you can choose what programs open what types of pictures etc.
Right click on a piture
Click on Properties
Just below the main properties is a "change" button with "opens with" before it.
Click on the change and choose which program you want to open them with.
Make sure that the tickbox at the bottom of the window is ticked and it will apply it to all the files of the same type e.g. .JPG or .GIF etc
I have attached a screenshot of the prperties with the change button circled.
Let us know how it goes.

I'm
pretty sure I did that but it still won't prompt from when I put my camera in & turn it on
It use to go to the "Windows camera & fax viewer when I turned the camera on but after the Nero took over & I shut off the Nero it still wont prompt from the camera to the W's camera & fax viewer window.

Joe5 helped me though a lot of this already but I still can't seem to get it to work .
