Default [Answered] Copy of Windows XP

Hi, i was just wondering, i am in the process of buying a new computer, but i didnt realise how expensive the operating systems actually are. So my friend has downloaded windows xp from the internet and he said he will put it on a disk for me, would it run the installation properly on a brand new computer that currently has no operating system?

thanks

hi there, when he burns it onto a disk he will have to make it a bootable disk, the info to do this can be found on google, just search make xp bootable disk, but using downloaded windows xp installations is illegal and you can be fined for it unless u have a genuine win xp cd-key, hope this helps urs Dave
