Default wrong drive letter

I have the same or a similar problem. I have swapped drives - former slave now master. I have Windows XP pro on the (new) master but it is shown as drive D. I want to change it to Drive C WITHOUT losing all the files and programs I have on it. All attempts so far have proved abortive. I do not seem to be able to change drive D because the system is on it.
I have tried changing it with Partition Magic but to no avail.
Any further suggestions?

Hi Fredk and welcome to PCHF

I have moved your post onto a new thread, this will help the team to answer your questions.

Have you tried changing the drive letter using Disk Management in the Administration tools section?

Try disconnecting your slave drive (only have the master connected) then boot into windows and try use Partition Magic to change the drive letters.
If it doesn't work then post the error message.
