Cool There has been a power cut & now the computer doesn't work

Hi, everyone

I do apolyise my knowledge of computers is very basic, so please bear with me.

My problem: My mums computer doesn't work this morning. There was a power cut last night, and now when she goes to switch on the computer - only a blue |Intel Pentium 4 screen comes up - thats as far as the computer switches on

Any help would be gratefully appreciated, thanks Hilary

Hi there HilaryB and welcome to PCHF.

Can you try removing the power cable from the back of the PC for around 30 seconds. Then reconnect the power cable and turn the system on,
Let us know how far it gets.

If that doesn't solve the problem then trying pressing the <Esc> key when the blue Intel screen appears and see if any errors popup, if they do then post it on the site (note - it can take up to 2 minutes for the error to appear)

Also make sure you remove any CD's and floppy disks from the machine.
