Default [Resolved] Volume Lables (System and Boot Volumes)

Hi there again guys,

One more small question. I got my PC back, and it seems that even though windows is installed to the correct drive, the system drive is wrong. My file storage drive (drive C: for now) is supposed to be drive D:, but it's drive C:. My main drive (drives D: and E: ) is listed as the boot drive, but not the system drive.

I would like to make drive D: the system and boot drive, as well as change it to drive C:, but I don't know how to do this. If someone could offer assistance, I'd be glad!

Thanks again guys!

Hi Yuiichi,

Welcome back. I am not familiar with your previous situation, so I need to ask you, when you say you "got your computer back," I am guessing that you mean from the shop, correct?

If so, I am curious as to why they installed the OS on a drive other than the boot drive. It sounds as if they have the drive cables reversed. Can you disconnect the storage drive, currently showing as C, and connect the other drive to that cable. Then see if the computer will boot?

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Hi LGW,

You are indeed correct in guessing that I just got it back from the shop. They reinstalled windows for me.

Unfortunately, I can't open the case since I would be voiding my warranty, but it seems that I can live with this minor annoyance for now. All of the programs that I install automatically point to the correct place, and thats what I was worried about to begin with.

As for mixing up the drive cables - I don't think thats possible. One is a SATA drive and the other is an IDE. Different connections, no?

Thanks for the reply~

Hi Yuiichi,

I would take the PC back and instruct them to point the PC back to booting off of the system drive, but if it doesn't bother you, it shouldn't cause any major problems.

I guess we'll just mark this one as Resolved, and look forward to seeing you in the forums. Have fun with your PC.
