Default Upgraded a computer from Win 95 to XP

I posted this a while back and thought I had it fixed but I didnt.

Here it goes.

I upgraded a computer from 95 to XP. I chose different file path and new installion directory.

I need to recover files I left in folders on the desktop of 95 named files and My Documents.

I have 3 windows folders

Win95 and two Windows I believe.

Is there anyway to recover these files??? Is there a program I might get? Is there anyway to get on the windows 95?

Thanks so much for any help!

Default Recovery

Hi SpyderX,

Huge apologies for the delay in getting to you.
I think that the program you found should work ok.
You should be able to get to the 95 folder/partition from XP.
Did you set up a seperate partition when installing XP or did you use the same one as 95 was installed on?

Default Access

Hi Spyder,

You should be able to get to the files from your c:\ drive, can you see the Win95 folder at all? Try doing a search for a file that you know was in the win98 folder and see if you can access it.

If you installed XP on the same partition that windows 95 was on, the information is gone. If it were on another partition, right click My Computer (Either in the start menu or on your desktop) and click Manage.

In the left pane, go to Storage>Disk Management

On the right pane, if you see another harddrive listen besides the C: drive, right click it, and click explore - if you get an error message, post it here
