Default black screen AFTER win logo

Heres my problem...I have 1.1g amd athlon with 1.5g400mhz ramand 80gbhdd.I have 2 partitions OS1=:C winXPsp2,OS2= winXPsp2.This setup working since December. When I startup I can choose which OS to boot to which tells me boot.ini is fine right? If I choose OS1 boots up no prob and I can view contents of D(partition and OS2).I even backed up wifes iTunes by moving it to C and burning to disc. When I choose OS2 screen goes black AFTER win logo regardless of safe mode, command prompt, last good blah blah.MS website states boot discs won't help boot probs after logo.I'm not that savvy but doesn't the fact that OS1 works narrow it down alot?No software changes to OS2 lately but I have been tweaking OS1 for performance in gaming(increased page/swap file size etc)Don't know if there is any clues there or not.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hengis,I wish I could but I'm not at home right now.So I take it that the fact that I get the prompt to choose which OS to boot doesn't eliminate boot.ini as the prob? The last time I reformatted partition1 I had to manually edit boot.ini to get the prompt back for partition2.I just copied and pasted the partion 1 below itself and changed it from 0 to 1 or 1 to 2 I can't remember. It then worked fine for last 3 mths.I recently viewed boot.ini just to see if I remembered how to edit it becuz I plan to change my partition strategy soon.I just wanted back into OS2 one more time so the wife can finalize her iTunes before I do reformat just becuz iTunes is such a pain and she didn't know how to disable auto sync. She hates computers and loves her Ipod but vowed never to reload again if it goes blank which is what happens if auto sync is enabled and your library is empty.I have researched that now but too late since I can't boot that OS.

Nope , that doesn't eliminate a boot.ini prob. Give this a try:

1.Boot with XP CD.
2.Press R to load the Recovery Console.
3.Type bootcfg , and press enter.

See if you can get in the second O.S. then.
Or you could also try a repair install on the second O.S.:
