Default two problems at once

ok for starters i revently installed a radeon x850 (upgrading from 9800pro) into my system and suddenly my capturre card wont work. im posting that under the winxp forum cause i think the card is working fine it may just be the newer ATI software messing it up. the other problem is when i go to manage hardware it dosn't come up and MMC.EXE is using 99% cpu in my processes, so i cant really check if my capture card is listed there. for the last few days i have tried everything i can think of to fix it and im out of ideas, ive already done virus searches with AVG and housecall and while i found a few at first im now clean and i searched out spyware with adaware and spybot and im clean there, i even tried renaming the mmc.exe file and seeing if win would reinstall it automatically with no luck, i even tried copying a new one off of my xp cd and that didnt work either and im just completely out of ideas so i was wondering if anyone else had any or have had this problem and solved it already. any help would be GREATLY appreciated, thank you.

Hello there limestallc and welcome to the forums,

Firstly the best way to test the system would be to put your old graphics card in and see whether your system performs properly (like it used to)

If it does then we know it is related to the card and we can look into that problem.

Alternatively if it doesn't make any difference then we need to look into it being a possible software problem.
The best thing to do in the scenario would be to download and install the latest drivers for your video card from the ATI site.
Then seeing as though you have experienced a few minor "bugs" in your system I would recommend that you run both an ewido scan and hijackthis which you can find in my signature under 'Prework'

Lastly you should run Regclean, which will clear any unwanted entries from your registry.

i had already run registry mechanic and that found nothing big and fixed the few things i had, i really hadent thought of moving in the old card because i dont really see the difference they both have about the about same power requierments and such but its worth a try i may do it wyhen i get some time later tonight, i already have the latest drivers but before i switch out the cards i may try removing all the ATI drivers and installing some modified OMEGA drivers and seeing if that does it.

i ran ewido and it cleaned something called downloader.agent.uj but that didnt seem to change anything.

and here is my hijackthis log

Have you also already tried to reinstall the driver for the capture card? That might help.

Ewido cant remove that infection fully im afraid but this will:

Please download FixWareout by LonnyRJones from one of these sites:

http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch. Please click Scan, and check the following items:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

Click Fix Checked. Close HijackThis, and click OK to proceed.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.
Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new HijackThis log.
_____________

Sometimes you may have Internet connection problems associated with WareOut. If so, please follow these steps:

For Windows 2K/XP

Please go to Start -> Control Panel, and choose Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually Local Area Connection or Dial-up Connection if you are using Dial-up, and left click on properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio button that says Obtain DNS servers automatically. Click OK twice, and restart your computer.

Great to hear the capture card works now , but the wareout infection is not completly gone yet.

Boot in safemode and fix these 2 with hjt:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [exe.mqpmd] D:\WINDOWS\system32\dmpqm.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [exe.opdmd] D:\WINDOWS\system32\dmdpo.exe
And manually dlete the files in bold.

Also it seems you have no firewall , to be better protected i would recommend to install one. Have a look in our download section for free firewalls.
