Hi All.
Recently had some problems with my PC, after getting frustrated i decided that it was time to reformat my C Drive and install Windows XP Professional.
Since doing so however, i have no sound.
I cant seem to find out what sound card i have, and add new hardware, isnt helping at all.
The pc i am currently using (while dodgy and cheap) is a Packard Bell iMedia M221.
I know that it is an onboard sound card and i 'think', however am pretty sure that im wrong, that my sound card might be A Realtek RTL8139 (however after installing many drivers, i have since had no luck, so therefore think i am wrong).
Thanks for any help guys.

Let's be sure about your soundcard. Follow the [What's inside your PC] link in my signature below and post back all info the program tells you about your sound device.

The Realtek part you are reffering of is a network chip.
When you go to device manager, does anything show up under the group undefinied devices (or something like that. Normally I use a UK version of Windows, but at the moment I have a dutch version installed cause the cd was broken). And as Hengis said: Use the program and say us what is says. Then we can give you the correct driver and a walktrough how-to-install.

Hello rosscoe you can either download a new driver for the manufacture of your computers website or your mainboard manufacturer.Or open device manager and uninstall your sound card and reboot/restart your computer and found new hardware wizard should reinstall it.
