Windows XP/2000 - w m player always takes 100%cpu posted in the Operating Systems forums; I cant run anything with w med pla it takes up so much of my cpu . It plays fine but nothing else does. Pleasae Help...

What version of WMP are you using? This may be a problem if you're using an older version.

Does it only happen with video , or also audio? (without the visualization running)

And what are youre system specs?

Question media player crashing

I am using media player 10. I am using a dell pentium 4 2.8cpu with 512 ram. I have only recently started getting this problem it used to work fine.

I uses 100% cpu as soon as it it opened. Without anything running

Okey, that's not great. When I use it, i have a CPU-usage of 50% or something. First of all: Visualation use a lot of CPU. On the other hand, your CPU is fast enough to handle it. But try to put it off and tell me if it helps.

Do you have a great amount of MP3's on your pc? If so, and you have the option Automatically detect mp3 and put it into library (or something like that), it's not that strange that your pc is running slow when u start WMP. So turn that option of if it's on and tell me if that helped...

Has your problem been solved yet? I'm really interrested in the cause of your problem, cause I heard a problem just like this @ work today.
