Windows XP/2000 - [Fixed] verclsid.exe posted in the Operating Systems forums; this process is preventing ie from running normally. i end it and it lets me use the adress bar and drop down menu to view recently viewed websites. anyone know ...

this process is preventing ie from running normally. i end it and it lets me use the adress bar and drop down menu to view recently viewed websites. anyone know what file is running it or how i can make this process not pop up anymore? again, the process is verclsid.exe. thanks for any help.

Hya NaYmL3sS , welcome to PCHF.

Im pretty sure that is some form of malware you have there. Please follow the instructions in the "Prework" link below in my sig and post the 2 resulting log files when done.

Then i can see what needs to be done.

heres the log file with hijack which i took while the process was running. (attached file)

After you have run Ewido , please post the Ewido log and a full hijackthis log. If you start hjt , then select the top option to "do a system scan and save a log file". Then the full log wil automaticly popup then.

ha, i found a better solution to my problem, firefox. its great. its faster and better. thanks for your time though there joe.

Rename the file to something else will fix problem for now. Microsoft is currently working on a fix. We had at least 4 PC's affected its from Hot fix (908531)

How do you know microsoft is working on a fix for this issue? their site has nothing about it?
