Default Major Problem Since Format

Hey, my first post here... stumbled across this pace as I am in dire need.

Ok I guess I should start with the problem:

When in games my pc will randomly just freeze meaning I have no control... however there is no strugle or attempted loading etc at this time... this lasts for about 30/40 seconds and then everything catches up. HA! Just after I finished that sentacned it happened in IE - so yes it also occurs when I am browsing the internet; however this is usually for a shorter amount of time.. but can also lead to IE just crashing. Also, and perhaps most annoyingly, is the fact that now when I attempt to use photoshop when I come to use any tools it will work for 30secs... but then the program will crash - with PS the crashes last for 50secs+... but more often than not it doesn't revieve itself like my game freezes do 100% of the time and like IE does 60% of the time.

As mentioned in the title this has been a problem since I formatted my pc... However now I come to think of it this is the reason I formatted my pc in the first place. So this was occuring before I formatted... but I havn't had this problem all the time I have had my PC - which means it must have started at some point - but I can not come to guess when (how long ago) this was. Or if I had done something to trigger it.

Any ideas.

Hya Iriis , welcome to PCHF.

Let's first have a look at the tempertures and voltages of youre pc. Can you download and install this app:

http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

And then report back the voltage readings , and the tempertures it displays?

Talking about voltages reminded me that I got a new GFX 'fairly' recently along with a new fan.. I am not quite sure if these came before, after, during the first renditions of the problem.. so couldn't say if the problem started after installing those: but thinking about it there is a chance that is the case.

The voltages are ok , the're not the problem. But the tempertures are i think.
Have a look inside the case to see if all fans are still spinning , and if everything isnt glogged up with dust.

Ok upon reading your reply I took my side panel off... perhaps not highly advisable but it gives me an idea of what it's like inside my case in a real working condition. :P

All my fans are working and the inside of my case is cooler then my room temperature. However wen I took a close look at my cpu cooling.. I noticed that behind it's ****py 40mm fan the heat sink was full of dust. (no dust anywhere else) So I'll clean this out and report back.

Heh ok I don't think it's 40 - it's 60 (or something near that - is it 66?)

Anyway I removed the fan and cleared a LOT of dust from the heatsink; as a result it seems to have lowered the temp there by about 10C... if nothing else is sorted that you for that ^^

I'm not sure whether my problem is solved though and will have to give my pc a lil' stress test on all the problems - once done I will again report here.
