Ok it didn't fix (doh!) So I've decided to take one step back, compile some info for you guys so we can have another try and getting to the root of this problem.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ammer/cpuz.jpg - cpuz screen
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4.../speedfan2.jpg - speedfan screen

Spec
  • 3ghz Intel Pentium 4 - prescott by the looks of cpuz
  • 1gig Ram - two sticks of 512, not matched, not good... but y'know.
  • GeForce 7800 GTX APG
  • 120gig HDD
  • 80mm intake fan on front, exhaust 80mm on side, 120mm exhaust on back, cpu 66mm fan and built in 40mmish on the gfx card...
Problem Symptoms
  • World of Warcraft ~ Random freezing in which the whole game stops however there is no stress or attempted loading etc - background music continues to play however. After 30 secs the game will catch up - during the freeze period I can not do anything... when it resumes my ventrillo also catches up - as in everythign everyone has said is played quickly and over lapped. Also sometimes I get disconected from the game after the 30secs.
  • Photoshop ~ I can use this program but after about 50seconds it crashes. If I wait for 1-2minutes it will ressume, but then in another 20secs it will crash again. 50% of the crashes it will nto resume, though, and has to be closed.
  • MSN ~ A newly found symptom. When using MSN it will have the WoW affect - a random freeze (not very common) but will last 40secs before catching up. During this time all internet related programs will not respond either but Word (for example) still rusn normally.
Hope this helps and I am willing to try almost anything to solve this so fire suggestions away. ^^

When WOW , i.e. ect freezes , can you still open the taskmanager? If yes , is there anything using 100% cpu time?

And are there any errors in youre eventviewer at the time of the freezing?

Start/rightclick on "my computer" and select "manage" , then on the left double click on "event viewer". Click on the "security" and "application" entrys and look for errors on the right.

I will try opening taskmanager next time I get the freeze and will get back to you on that.

However on the errors thing looks like you are on to something. I'll get some screen shots in a sec but I have a -lot- of errors which all (bar 1) Source is 'Application Hang' and when I go on propperties of that error it names the prog which did it.

So yes it seems there is an error for each time it does it - I'll take some screenies.

Ok so lots of errors in both Apllication and System (none in security). There are also a lot of Information things under both Application and System and again none uin Security and there is about 10 warning things in Application and System and none in security again. If there is anything else I can do to help please say and I will get on to it.

Thanks.

Thats just an report of the result , i.e that those apps hung but it doesn't say why or anything im afraid.

There is also one "application error" in there , what do the properties of that one say?

"Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2600.0, faulting module mswsock.dll, version 5.1.2600.0, fault address 0x00018f2b."

So we know the apps hung... there can't be an infinate amount of reasons for this can there?
