Hi everyone! This is my first post, so please bear with me.
I am installing XP Tablet version on an HP/Compaq tc4200. I already made it through disc one and shortly after it asked me to insert disc two, it asked me to insert XP SP1. I made the switch, but now it keeps telling me it can't find one file after another. I mananged to get the first file, hscupd.exe, but now I'm stuck at hscxpsp1.cab. I keep finding references to it, like what it does, but how do I get that file? I took the CD out of the tablet & put it in my PC so I could search it manually to see if I could find it, but it's not there. Does anyone know of a site that will let me download that one file?
Thanks!

Hello and welcome to PCHF,
Hmm this is a very strange error, I have no idea why it asked you for SP1, anyway could you try the following:

The original image is corrupt, which is why I am reinstalling the OS, so I cannot clear temp files or anything. It is not connected to our network, so I cannot do MS updates.
Two disks came with the tablet from the manufacturer (HP/Compaq), but it didn't even seem to get any info off the 2nd one before it asked for SP1.

i do have a regular winxp pro cd that i could, in theory, use to install, but i thought i had to use the tablet version on tablets. if you can install xp pro on tablets, why would the tablet version even exist? guess that's kinda rhetorical.
i searched the regular xp cd that you suggested and did not see it on there. any other ideas? i'm pretty stumped. thanks for your help!

One of my coworkers finally found it and I was able to save it to a USB drive and get the tablet to pull it off of there, but now it's asking for hscmui.cab. What a pain in the ****! I guess it will keep asking me for every file until it is done. Not sure why it's not finding these files on its own. Strange.

Unfortunately it looks like you will have to do this for each file
Can you try searching the CD's that you have, try searching for the beginning of the name e.g hscmui*.* and see if it finds anything.
I have managed to find the file, I have attached it in .zip format.hscmui.zip
