Default Images - save as - no choice

In Internet explorer I used to be able to save an image in its natural format. As of about 6 months ago it will only save an image as a BMP. The drop down box offers no other choices. I have tried clearing the cache, cleaning out the temp file and a whole host of other remedies suggested. No dice. I can switch over to Firefox and the 'save as' function works fine. I have all but given up and waiting for IE 7, hopeing that the problem will resolve itself. Got a feeling though that something is amiss and the problem will roll over to 7. Anyone got an idea?

Hi there and welcome to PCHF.

Can you follow this [System File Checker] and see if that fixes your problem in the first instance.
