Hi, about six months ago while investigating a problem and removing and re-installing spybot all the icons on my desktop disappeared and the start menu also disappeared. Now the only way to get to programs and the c drive is to do "alt ctrl del" bring up taskmanager and run explorer and then manually find the items and programs i need. This problem has also affected all other users who log onto this PC. Everything how stills works find but this is really a pain. Eternally grateful if someone can help me.

What do you see when you boot in Safe Mode?
You can enter Safe Mode by tapping F8 during the start-up proces of your computer.

I'll try it now and get back to you as soons as possible

it goes into safe mode ok but still no start menu or desktop icons. I am logged into PChelpforum from another PC now so can try other things

Hiya - I had a similar problem and used Powertoys to solve it.

Tweak UI is on the right hand side, download that and it should help
