Default WMP Restarts system when streamed

Hello every one. My computer has been acting strangely. Whever i stream anything using Windows Media Plaer, being audio or video, my system restarts. No warning or anything, just a black screen and than restarts. when it finishes its restart it takes it a bit to load everything and gets stuck on the blue welcome screen yet the start bar is still shown.

this is very strange and i dont konw how to fix it. It only hapens with WMP because ive streamed things from youtube and it works fine.

any help apreciated

Hi Ostrianiel!
Welcome to PC Helpforum!

Does it happen only with streams, or does it also happen when you play other files using WMP?
This could be malware related, so could you please follow the Prework instructions in my signature.
It could also be related to drivers, do you know if the drivers for your soundcard are up to date, and have you downloaded the latest Windows Updates?

Bluefish

Lets see if this helps:

Boot youre pc in safemode (hit f8 when booting up)

Click Start>Run and type in: services.msc
Click OK
In the Services window find: Power Manager
Select/highlight and right click the entry, and choose: Properties
On the General tab, under Service Status click the Stop button
Beside: Startup Type, in the drop menu, select: Disabled
Click Apply, then OK
Open HJT and click config > misc tools > ?delete an NT service?
Copy and past: Power Manager
Click OK.

Then fix this entry with hijackthis:
(if still pesent)

O23 - Service: Power Manager (PowerManager) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe (file missing)
Reboot when done and see if the problem is gone.
