Hi Tadpole,

What happens if you try to access safe mode from msconfig? Start > run > type msconfig > BOOT.INI tab > check SAFEBOOT > apply restart

Ive already posted that , including an importend warning:

BUT since safemode doesn't work , it could very well happen that windows wont boot at all anymore because it wil keep trying , and failing , to get in safemode when you try it.
@lrohrback , give this a try:

Download the Hoster from here. Press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK". Exit Program. This will restore the original Hosts file.

If that doesn't help , then post an hijackthis log to see if you might have a malware problem. See link below in my sig.
But please start a new topic of youre own , or it would get messy to try to help two different persons in one thread.

Scouse and Joe5,

Thanks, but I'm afraid if I try to get it that way I won't have a workable computer. I will try the Windows repair thing.

Ajspurs,

I'm confused about your directions. Do you mean to press escape instead of f8? Or when the menu comes up or what? Can you be more specific?
