I have contacted IBM regarding this, but they have never heard of such a problem.
On an IBM Thinkcentre (6 months old), using XP Pro, Windows starts up fine, as does Word and Adobe Reader. I can right click on my computer and access management, also can use the run command. However, most other desktop shortcuts don't respond. I have tried using the start menu, but clicking on my computer, help and support, control panel etc, all of these appear to start as the menu disappears and the cursor displays an egg timer for a short time. But nothing opens.
There are no error messages.
CTRL+ALT+DEL brings up the task list. There is nothing in the applications tab, however, the processes do appear in the processes tab. They are using memory but not
CPU usage, the only thing using up the
CPU is the system idle process.
We have McAffee anti virus which is up to date too. Does anyone have any ideas?
Will I have to ask IBM for some recovery disks?
