Default System crashing

For the last few weeks my PC has kept crashing and rebooting, I am now at my wits end to find the reason,
you will have to bear with me as I am only a novice silver surfer but
I have Win XP Prof. and when it crashes I look at the event viewer
it says redbook, event ID 10, The drive has not been shown to support digital audio playback.......could this be the reason it keeps crashing or is there anything else I could look for ?

Hya Charles , that relateds to youre audio driver. I would first try to uninstall and reinstall that to see if that fixes the problem.

If you go to youre device manager , start menu/rightclick on "my computer"/properties/hardware/device manager , and right click on the sound card and select uninstall. Then if you reboot youre pc windows should automaticly reinstall it.

Hi ya Charles, have you checked for viruses and done any spyware/malware scans lately?

To get to youre soundcard just double click on "Sound, video and game controllers" , then rightclick on the sound card and select uninstall.
Reboot and let windows reinstall it automaticly.

And if that doesn't help then it indeed also might be a good idea to check for malware. You can do that by following the instructions in the "Prework" link below in my sig and posting the 2 resulting log files.
