Hey faraz_k86!

Are you connected through a router?
Have you enabled any kind of firewall on your computer?

It might be that your router isn't able to process your download as it needs to open many ports. You may eventually need to update your router firmware.

Hi faraz!

Well a router is the device that controls a computer network. SO this has nothing to do with your dial-up connection.
But you use the university computer to download the files?

Are you sure they haven't blocked applications like this there?

thx for ur replies bluefish, yes i am using my university connection due to the fact it has dsl, also i checked firewalls and the system had no firewalls, it only has the windows xp sp2 firewall, i requested to the lab incharge and he logged on as administrator and turned the firewall off for all users, but even then the torrent client cannot connect, what can be wrong?

just for the sake of testing i installed the same software in my home pc, and it was working perfectly even with default settings,

plz help me as as each day goes by i am losing seeders on that file?

p.s. what happened to my signature? y is there a dancing banana, where the "exc" of the excellent used to be?

Ask around at the university , very likely Bittorrent and other p2p apps will be blocked on the university's network.
