Default Data Execution Prevention in XP Pro SP2

When installing Norton Ghost 8, Symantec advised that, to avoid a blue screen failure, the Data Execution Policy (My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Performance Options) should be changed from the default: Turn on only for essential Windows programs and service to the alternate: Turn on for all programs and services except those I list below. This has caused all kinds of grief with some fairly sophisticated software like AutoCad and Lacerte professional tax software. Does anybody know if I could get away with setting this back to the default?

Hi Rob , welcome to PCHF.

I dont use Norton Ghost but i dont see any reason why it should give any problems to set it back. You can always try it , and set it back again if it does gives problems.
