Default Stubborn Processes

Many times when I exit media player and go into ram/processor saving mode (like for defragging), media stays up, usually keeps running for about 1/2 minute. Is there a way to stop it?

Hey there gmsdrmmrboi,

Would you be able to explain a few things for me, I need a clearer understanding of the problem:
  • What do you mean by ram/processor saving mode?
  • What happens if you close Media player normally, how long does it take to close?
If the problem is that it is taking a long time to close then the possible solution would be to scandisk and defrag your system, clear our all TEMP and Temporary Internet Folders.
It could also be spyware related, in which case you could follow the Prework link in my signature.

1--I mean just ending processes that I don't need...i.e. explorer, aim, firefox, etc.
2--The window closes in normal time, but then the music keeps playing for about thirty seconds, then usually stops, but sometimes just keeps going. When it's been a couple minutes I usually finally decide 2 look at task manager and wmplayer.exe's still there.

ALSO--I don't know if it's fixed or not, but i reformatted (gotta love the blue installation screen...) due to big spyware download and a want to keep using the computer yesterday (also to use merlin's partitioning suggestion). So this might all be fixed

Since you have formatted make sure you install all the latest windows updates and install some antivirus software.

Let us know if you encounter the problem again.
