Give this a try first:


1.Boot with XP CD.
2.Press R to load the Recovery Console.
3.Type bootcfg <press enter.


If that doesn't help try an repair install:

http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

You'll keep all youre files and settings , but windows has to be updated again.

You are kind to ask - thanks....but no, not yet as I have been given some helpful info but I am at work right now and won't get to computer until either tomorrow night or Saturday morning....stay tuned!!!
