Default Can't 'Cut' or 'Move' Files/Folders

Hi, I can't seem to 'cut' or 'move' files or folders. After cutting and pasting the files into another directory and when I tried to open the file/folder, an error msg appear. The msg says 'filename' is not accessible, access is denied. I am also not able to delete that file or folder once this happens. The error msg says 'access is denied, make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use'. Well, I am not using the file at all and its not write protected. Can someone please tell me how to rectify this problem? I have recently accidentally moved a folder which contains some important family pictures and I can't open them now. Thank you..

welcome on this forum Shibly,

Sounds like your files are corrupt,

can you try presseng right mouse on the drive the files are on (hard disk I presume) and clicking properties, next click on extra, and press the check for errors button, this feature should check your hard drive for corrupt and faulty files, and maybe it will repair your wanted files...

Please post any progress..

Hello Shibly,

A warm welcome to PCHF from me as well. We have a wonderful group of techs here, and I am sure that we will be able to figure out what is going on with your files.

I think that Ruben means to click on Tools, then Error Checking.

However, before you do that, I would like you to check for malware incase that is to blame. It sounds like this came on rather suddenly, and if it is malware and goes untreated, you could lose those files.

Please carefully follow the instructions for PreWork in my signature. Make sure to save the ewido log to post back here with the HijackThis log.

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN

Default Ewido Log

Here's the ewido log. Sorry for the late reply, it took quite a long time for the scan.

Hey Shilby,

OK, thanks for that, I'm sorry, I know that one takes some time  , but it's good!

I don't see anything immedately apparent that would keep you from being able to cut and paste.

However, there are a couple of things you should fix.

Please download LSPFix, and also RegSupremePro, that's in my signature.

First run ewido again, and allow it to fix all. That way it won't take so long, you don't appear to have any false positives. Save the new log to post back here.

Next unzip and run LSPFix. That will take care of the broken Internet Access link.

Now run CCleaner again, according to the previous instructions. Then install and run RegSupremePro, it will want to create a back up of your cache, let it. Click on the Registry Cleaner tab, and select aggressive. Once it has finished, click on Select, and choose All. Click on Fix and let it fix everything that it finds.

Turn your computer off, not restarted, leave it off for a full minute, turn it back on. Do a test on your cut and paste, not the particular file you are concerned about, pick something innocuous. Please run another HJT log and post it back here.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN
