Default boot to safe mode not working?

hi guys, not sure what's happened to my friend's laptop - it won't start up past the "press f2 for setup or f12 to boot from LAN" . it won't start in safe mode (f8). do i make a boot disc from my pc, or is there anything else you can suggest? thanks a lot :)

Hi there and welcome to the forum.

Can you get to the Safe-mode menu? If you can then choose "Last known good configuration" instead of safe-mode.

Try resetting the cmos by removing the powercord and the motherboards battery for a couple of minutes , place them back and try to boot up again.
