instead of coming to my login screen where i can select users, a window pops up with the title "Unlock computer" saying this computer has been locked. Only this User/Administrator can unlock this computer.
How do I unlock this computer, and what have i done that triggered this locking process?

Something as simple as hitting the Windows key and the "L" key at the same time can lock your PC. All you need to do is press control-alt-delete and enter your username and password OR the administrator account username and password.
