Question [Answered] Keep getting debug error. Need Help!

I have a Compaq Presario 5000, with 256 Mg of memory, running Windows 2000. Lately the computer has been slowing to a crawl, and when I try to close programs, I get an Error message that says "This program cannot be closed. It is being debugged. Please resume it or close the debugger first."

I would LOVE to close the debugger. I would love to remove the debugger from my system if that was possible without damaging the system! It's driving me nuts! It doesn't tell me WHICH of several programs I have running is the one being debugged. I suspect it is Windows Explorer, because it has been crashing a lot lately, refusing to open, running slowly, etc.

I have already gone into Internet Explorer and checked the button in Advanced regarding debugging scripts, so that isn't the problem. The only way I can clear the problem temporarily is to bring the computer down and back up. My browser of choice is Mozilla, my email client Eudora 7.0.1. I use Windows Media Player and my Office suite is Office 2000. Some times all or several of these are up and running or in the background when this problem happens.

I hope you can help, or point me to a place in the forums where this has been discussed. I tried searching and got nothing useful.

Hey Seranadb,

Welcome to PCHF. We have a wonderful staff here, and I am sure we can get this all sorted out.

It sounds like you have been infected with malware, those rlms (rotton little monsters) can cause all kinds of problems.

Can you please carefully follow the instructions for PreWork in my signature, and post the resulting logs for ewido and HijackThis back here? We will figure out what you need to do to clear out your computer.

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN

Default Problem with "Debug" taking over Computer

Here are the logs that you requested Two for Hijack This one befor and one after the ewido scan plus the ewido log. I only found cookies in Mozilla on the ewido scan.

Hey Serena,

Thanks for those, please make sure to keep all of the posts within the same thread, that way we can make sure that the answers don't get confused.

I have already merged the two threads, so it's no problem.

Let me take a look at your logs,
