Default XP Switches Active Windows by Itself?

Recently, XP began switching from the active window I'm using to another open window. Happens randomly (time and application swithced from/to).

At first I though perhaps I had my email client client set up so that it would become active when new mail arrived, but notthe case and I am often switched from email to another window so I know that's not it.

Very frustrating for a person who looks atthe keyboard when typing. I thinking I'm typing an email, look up and I'm over writing the contents of a database record!

Thinking maybe my fat fingers are hitting a key combination (Alt - Tab) that is doing it, but I don't thinks that's it as my fat fingers don't even feel right typing that key combo!

No new software added recently.

Anybody else have this happen or is there any other key combos that I may be hitting?

Welcome to PC Help Forum

The only keystroke that would achieve this would be Alt-Tab and I am sure that you wouldn't be doing that whilst typing...

Can we first make sure that this isn't related to any "nasties" lurking in your system - follow the proceedure in the Pre-Work link in my signature and post your logs back here.

When it switches, do you get that screen in the middle of your screen, as you get when you use Alt-Tab?

No, not getting the "switch screen" screen that you get when hitting Alt-Tab.

Did you see this part? Sounds like a very good idea.

I've got the logs ready to go, but can't see how to attach as attachment as requested in directions with Quick reply, the only way I see to respond.

Thanks!
