Default IE6 Installation problem

I have a problem re installing IE6 (having to go back as a few sites dont work in IE 7 or FF)

But i keep getting the error, "Setup has already detected a newer version of Internet Explorer installed on this system, Setup cannot continue". I have tried downloading and rumnning the IE Fox tool that Joe posted, but it hasnt worked. Ive even followed the directions in the Microsoft website and edited the value in the registry manually, and ive also tried restarting the system for the changes to take effect, but i still get the same error message.

Ive also tried removing it from add/remove Windows Components but still no joy.

May I ask why you are trying to reinstall IE6 ? We may possibly solve the initial problem i believe.

Maybe this helps:

Uninstalling Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview

To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview and return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP

Click ?Start,? and then click ?Control Panel.?
Click ?Add or Remove Programs.?
Check ?Show Updates? at the top of the dialog box.
Scroll down the list to ?Windows XP ? Software Updates,? select ?Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2Preview,? and then click "Change/Remove."

If "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview" does not exist, run %windir%\$NtUninstallie7bet2p$\spuninst\spuninst.e xe. You need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.

Although i managed to uninstall IE7, i still get the error about IE6. When i say this i mean that i dont get the usual options i.e. pop up blocker etc.

I would do a repair installation to cut it short The most efficient way seems to be the repair installation. Make sure you are %100 malware free if you are going to have sp2.
