Unhappy BIG problem with Word 03

I apologize in advance if I am posting this in the wrong place or this question has already been asked - I'm brand new to the forum....

I was hoping someone would be able to help me with a problem...

Every time I try to run Microsoft Word 2003 (I have Windows XP Home if that makes any difference) the program won't load. The little screen comes up that says it's loading but then nothing happens. Sorry if this makes no sense... it's hard to explain and I know nothing about computers

Anyways... if anyone could help me out with this I would seriously appreciate it.... Thanks!!!!!!

This is what it looks like.... it just sits like that and that screen doesn't go away. Weird thing was, I just tried it again and Word loaded, but the second time I tried it, it was broken again. Another thing which may not be related, my computer won't restart or turn off unless I push the power button. When I hit turn off it says something about ending a program and then it just freezes up

Hi Miss,

My welcome to you as well. As there seem to be several things that are going on, can you please help me to rule out malware as a possible cause?
Please follow the instructions for PreWork in my signature, and post the resulting 2 logs back here.

Also, when you post, did Word work previously, and did you install any new hardware or software at or around the time that this issue began?

Thanks for the screenshot. Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Hi, welcome to PCHF.

Try doing a repair of your office installation that will replace any broken word programs (It will not touch any word documents). To do so:

1. Insert your OFFICE CD
2. Click 'Repair'

@Miss, please do not do the Office Repair until we have ruled out malware, it could cause more problems.

@Bdude, see above. If you have questions PM me.

Looking forward to your post Miss,

TTFN
