Default [Fixed] new install problem...help

now that i just reformatted my hd and re-installed windows xp on it, i have a problem when it tries to boot up. it gives me two options to boot from that are exactly the same.

boot from:
windows xp home edition
windows xp home edition

its acting like i have dual operating system, but i dont. i thought i reformatted my whole drive and installed it fresh. i just hit enter on the top one and it boots into windows fine, but i dont want to have to do this. how do i delete the bottom option? if i do choose the bottom option, it errors and doesnt work anyways.
could you guys help me, thanks tons!

Hya Joho5.

Can you post the contents of youre boot.ini? Go to start/run and type C:\boot.ini , press enter and copy the contents of the window that comes up.

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect

there is two of them...i need the bottom one to be done away with.

Then if you remove the bottum line from the boot.ini , it should be gone after that.

It is refering to an old windows install on the D: drive it seems.
