Hi Ianbrum,

Do you want to be rid of ALL the information on your PC and datart from scratch?

It would be a good idea to make sure you know what you have in the machine. Sometimes, with newer hardware, XP may not have the proper drivers.

Make sure you know the model of your motherboard and you know what kind of sound and video card you have.

If you indeed want to do a comlpete format/reinstall , then make sure you "boot" from the windows cd , and not install windows from "within" windows. I.e. , reboot youre pc with the windows cd in youre drive , look closely at the bottum of the screen for a line that says "press any key to boot from a cd" then pres a key and the (fresh) install process will start.

Ok as long as you can find your drivers or have a driver disk you're set.

If you have a Window's XP CD or a recovery disk you should be all set.

If you have a recovery disk then this link will be helpful

If you have an XP disk then you will probably need to have a seperate driver disk or find them online. If you are using on-board LAN for your internet connection it would be wise to make sure you have your motherboard drivers handy BEFORE you start re-installing windows.

If the manufacturer gave you a recovery disk when you bought your PC then you should be okay then.
