Welcome to PCHF.

If you have overwritten the files it may be very hard (if not impossible) to recover them. You can try this program which a number of Staff and Members have used: http://www.pchelpforum.com/utilities...very-v4-x.html

Good luck.

Hi there Gillahoon , indeed since you've overwritten them , recovering could be impossible.

But did you also delete tho photos of the camera , or did you only copy them from it? Maybe the originals are still on the camera.

In the future (I feel your pain man trust me) make sure you give each picture a distinct name. Camera's give pictures taken on them the same names over and over again as soon as you empty them the name game starts over again.

You can always just burn the folders to a cd (I recommend by date...yyyy-mm-dd).

Best of luck, friend.

good idea, but most people take hundreds of pics with a digital, and it would take you hours to rename them all

also, another tip for ya, i would save them in at least 3 diferent spots. On the HD, on a CD, and depending on your other storage options, a usb flash drive, or on another cd. CD's do not last forever, and even if they dont get scratched, or otherwise damaged they decay over time, should last at least 5-10 years, depending on how you store them. sunlight will greatly reduce thier lifespan. but if you have them in 3 spots, if something happens to one of them, you still have 2 copies, so you can always recopy them, so you never loose them.

Sorry, my second paragraph came nowhere near to saying what I intended:cheesy:.

What I meant was every time you transfer from your camera to the hard drive make sure you name the folder according to the date, you can have all those in a master "Pictures" folder or something like that.
