Default Choppy...Everything

Lately I've encountered not a critical problem but nevertheless, a very annoying problem. Every program on my computer seems to run "choppy" from watching videos to screensavers to even using the scroll bar. The program seems to stall for a split second and then kicks back into what it was doing and it does this every so 3-5 seconds. When watching a video, there is no audio choppiness, only picture. Now Ive tried many things such as: spyware deletion, virus scan, registry clean up, defrag, freeing up resources and nothing has worked yet. Has anyone got a solution? I am really annoyed with this problem.

Welcome to pchelpforum slash8793,

This sounds like it could be either a hard drive issue or something relating to spyware/registry.

Could you try and run a defrag and scandisk on your computer, once you have done this check to see whether it has helped.

If not then I recommend you run Hijackthis and post the log onto the forum for us to check. You can find a link to it in my signature under 'Prework'.
Feel free to follow all instructions in 'Prework'.

Can you first run this tool to uninstall sony's rootkit:

http://cp.sonybmg.com/xcp/downloads/...ninstaller.exe

And then uninstall Media Access in ad/remove programs if present.

Then disable the windoes messenger service:

Please download Shoot The Messenger

Download and run the small (22 kbyte) "ShootTheMessenger.exe" utility. It will display the current status of your system's Messenger Service. The button near the bottom of its window will allow you to set the service to whichever state ? running or disabled ? that you desire.

If, for any reason, you should ever choose to re-enable the Windows Messenger Service, simply re-run ShootTheMessenger to do so.
And then post a new hjt log to remove the rest.

Ive also seen that WinAd has been installed on my computer. Ad-aware SE hasnt been able to fix the problem completely. Could this be the reason to my problem and if so, how do I completely remove it?

Ok , download CCleaner

Then boot in safemode (hit f8 when booting up)

Click Start>Run and type in: services.msc
Click OK
In the Services window find:

ZESOFT

Select/highlight and right click the entry, and choose: Properties
On the General tab, under Service Status click the Stop button
Beside: Startup Type, in the drop menu, select: Disabled
Click Apply, then OK
Open HJT and click config > misc tools > ?delete an NT service?
Copy and past:

ZESOFT

Click OK.

Then fix these with hjt:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\blank.htm
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSN MMISSENGER] mssmmspgr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [MSN MMISSENGER] mssmmspgr.exe
O16 - DPF: {C4925E65-7A1E-11D2-8BB4-00A0C9CC72C3} (Virtools WebPlayer Class) - http://a532.g.akamai.net/f/532/6712/.../installer.exe
O23 - Service: ZESOFT - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\zeta.exe (file missing)
Delete the files in bold , and run Ccleaner.

Also i see you have no firewall , have a look in our download section for free firewalls.

And post a new hjt log to check please.

If I delete the NT Service, will I still be able to access MSN Messenger?
