I have been struggling with this problem for many weeks. I have a 16X DVD Rom from Acer dont know the model number and running windows Xp.

Problem is under my computer it wont find the C Drive but it finds the A Drive fine. Wondering any ideas on what to do with this. I have done many things as changing cables, deleting the Secondary Channel, and deleting the Drive itself and still no luck. Need some help thanks.

Is your DVD drive Labled C or is it D? C is usally reserved for your operating system

Oops lol Not into it its labeled D for the DvdDrive. Im sorry I wasent paying attention C is there and its fine. Its D

Hmmm.. Perplexing.. Usually your drive letters go like this

A=Floppy Drive
C=Hard Drive

Anyway lets try this..

Right Click My Computer. Click on manage. Click on Device Manager. Then let us know if there are any Yellow or Red marks by any of the drives shown under the manager

Yes there is a Yellow mark next to the DVD-ROM 16X

Try this , right click on it and select uninstall , reboot and let windows install it again.

didnt work still has yellow mark says the fiel is corrupt or missing. (Code 39)
